The importance of a change in the cities

The fastest growing cities, overconsumption, the shortage of natural sources such as water and energy, pollution, and social inequality, are some of the aspects that are driving the creation of cities with a sustainable concept.

Generally, A sustainable city is what offers a high quality of life to people that are living there, without harming resources because it is of great importance for the wellness of future humanity.

With this in mind, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, created for the United Nations is number 11, making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Which promotes the compromise of the cities taking care of the environment and the wellness of those living in it.

Likewise, It is expected that by 2050, 66% of the pollution will reside in urban areas, so, because of that, developing sustainable cities is something for every country. There are some features that make different this kind of cities, for example:

  • Efficient Public Transportation: sidewalks, bike bridges, and easily accessible bike racks are the key to sustainable options for biking and walking. Besides, electric vehicles are becoming more popular and cities should include EV charging stations. These initiatives can help reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change.
  • Green architecture: the main goal of using the green building is to reduce the number of resources used and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Green buildings may include solar panels, enhanced ventilation, and insulation, using smart HVAC systems and sustainable materials for indoor use.
  • Urban garden: many families take the decision to adapt their terraces into urban gardens using urban farming techniques. There are many benefits and these are improved air quality, reduced transportation costs, reduced runoff from natural rainfall, ample pollination in cities, and supporting local food producers.

After all, as a company committed to the environment, we are aware that little by little we have to adapt and install new features to promote sustainable cities. For this reason, we are actively supporting goal number 11, creating green spaces and homes with our material composed of recycled plastic and natural stone, as well as being versatile in terms of the variety of designs, their applications, and their easy installation. In addition, we do everything we can to encourage society to change our daily habits and to move towards a circular economy.
