It is a fact that the planet has been suffering severities for many years now, not only in the environment, people and society have been affected by world events, including a global pandemic and the latest: a war between Russia and Ukraine. However, there is a silver lining: an official proposal to make a better planet for society, environment and people: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, created by the United Nations Member States in 2015.
This global action plan provides peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future, by establishing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The goals aim to make an urgent call for action in all countries and end poverty, improve health and education, reduce inequality, enhance economic growth and, of course, take care of the environment. These sustainable goals are:
- No poverty
- Zero hunger
- Good health and well-being
- Quality education
- Gender equality
- Clean water and sanitation
- Affordable and clean energy
- Decent work and economic growth
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure
- Reduced inequalities
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Responsible consumption and production
- Climate action
- Life below water
- Life on land
- Peace, justice and strong institutions
- Partnerships for the goals
Sustonable, providing a recyclable decorative surface material and being conscious of the planet’s situation, wants to be part of the 2030 Agenda by taking action on some of the goals. The goals where Sustonable is very much focused are:
Nº5: Gender equality
Nº9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Nº 11: Sustainable cities and communities
Nº 12: Responsible consumption and production
Nº 13: Climate action
Nº 14: Life below water
Nº 15: Life on land
We believe a transformation is still possible; for this reason, we work with recycled materials and respect the environment by having a low carbon footprint and energy consumption; we keep resources in place, for instance, retrieving 85% of the water that we use for production. We are also not using hazardous chemicals for production, and we are already reducing the tonnes of plastic waste that we, unfortunately, create (1m2 of sustonable is equivalent to 100 plastic bottles).
Sustonable is working on introducing a circular surface that, at the end of the life of the material, won’t end in a landfill.
We are proud to be part of this change and want to improve every day by following these Sustainable goals. Follow us to know how we develop these goals in our journey against plastic waste!
